Frequently Asked Questions (Citizens)

Ans. An applicant who desires to obtain information under the RTI Act, 2005 can make a request through this RTI Online Portal to New Delhi Municipal Council.

Ans. The text of the application may be written in the prescribed column of the RTI request form. At present, the text of the application is confined up to 3000 characters only. In case, the text of an application contains more than 3000 characters, it can be uploaded as a PDF attachment in the "Supporting Document" column of the form.

Ans. After filling the first page of the RTI request form, a non-BPL applicant has to click on "Make Payment" button for payment of the prescribed RTI fee. The applicant can pay through Internet Banking or Debit/Credit card (Master/Visa).
No fee for BPL applicants, but a BPL certificate must be uploaded.

Ans. On submission of an application, a unique registration number will be issued for future reference. Application first reaches the Nodal Officer electronically, who then forwards it to the concerned PIO.

Ans. The Nodal Officer will transfer the application to the correct Central Public Authority if aligned with this portal, or physically if not aligned. RTIs meant for State Authorities (including NCT of Delhi) will be returned without refund.

Ans. If additional fee is required, the PIO will intimate. It can be viewed in "RTI Status" on the portal and applicant will get email/SMS alerts. Payment can be made offline via Cash, IPO, DD, or Cheque in favour of NDMC.

Ans. Applicant must click "Submit First Appeal" on the RTI Portal, fill the form, and submit online.

Ans. No fee has to be paid for first appeal as per RTI Act.

Ans. Applicant may provide mobile number to receive optional SMS alerts.

Ans. Ignore the certificate error and proceed: Firefox – Add Exception, Chrome – Proceed Anyway, IE – Continue to this website.

Ans. No. You can file directly using "Submit Request".

Ans. Use "Forget Password" utility to regenerate a new password.

Ans. No. This portal is exclusively for NDMC.

Ans. Activation key is sent on registered email. It must be used for first login. Regeneration option also available.

Ans. Wait 48 working hours for reconciliation. If still not generated, email details to rtionline[at]ndmc[dot]gov[dot]in.

Ans. This may happen if PIO hasn’t replied and 30 days haven’t lapsed. Appeal only after 30 days.

Ans. It is password encryption for security. Enter same password in both password and confirm password fields.

Ans. No. Online appeal can only be filed against online RTI applications.

Ans. If filed directly without logging in, it won’t appear in account history. Status can still be checked with Registration No.

Ans. Click on "View Status" to check replies for RTI applications or appeals.

Ans. Sometimes registration is delayed due to bank reconciliation. If still not received, contact bank for refund.

Ans. Applicant will get alert on mobile/email. Then go to RTI Portal → View Status. Details of required documents will be shown. Documents must be submitted offline to the authority.
